@colleenyoung, Hi Colleen. I just stumbled on to a website that has some good information about fibromyalgia. I thought there was a fibro group here on the Mayo website but i couldn't find it. Anyway, if you think someone might find it helpful, here it is:
http://healthiculture.com/fibromyalgia/newsletter/cannabis/relatedarticles.php
I tried to copy and paste as a link but my kindle just wouldn't do it. Sorry, Judy

@parus I love your statement "chronic pain is not for whiner’s nor wimp’s" That is so very true! I have had chronic pain for over 20 years now. It's a marathon. I have many issues causing me pain. Fibro, migraines, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc of C4 -C6, lumbar pain and TMJ.
@hazelblumberg we are glad you found us too! I see John has tagged a discussion about TMJ earlier in this thread. An easy way to find conversations taking place is to go to the very top of your screen and click on the magnifying glass, you can type a search word or terms.

@marield65 I have heard of Dr. Bono from one of the women in my pool exercises. I think he did her husband's hip or knee and I know he is supposed to be excellent.

@parus Back when I had severe migraines I would have had anything and everything pierced if it would have given me some relief. Just thinking about the pain makes my head hurt.

I'm 64, and I'd try just about anything to get rid of this TMJ pain! An acquaintance of mine, who's in her 80s, has gone to chiropractors all her life and used them as primary-care physicians. (I would never do that. I think chiropractors are great for backs, but that's about it.) Anyway, her chiropractor put a "staple" in one of her ears to "cure" her tinnitus. It didn't work, which didn't surprise me.

@hazelblumberg I too am a bit leery of chiropractors and their claims to be able to fix just about everything. One told a friend who was having trouble conceiving that he could fix that. Really?

All I can say to chiropractors helping people conceive is LOL!

I promised you all I would let you know when I got approved for Medical Marijuana. Judi and I did it. We then went down to Edgewater FL. and got two 500 mg bottles. $70 each. So we were suppose to start with 5 drops (each drop is a mg.) three times a day and slowly work up to 10 drops 3 times a day. Do the math. 16 days for $70. We are both at 5 drops 3 times a day and no relief. I sure hope it starts to ease our pain. Will Keep you posted.

Hoot, you must be so disappointed! How long have you been using medical marijuana? I'm going to talk with my primary health care provider, a DNP, when I see her on August 8, and medical marijuana is something I was going to discuss with her. A friend of mine has severe back pain--she's had surgery, and she's due for surgery again soon--and she's been using medical marijuana. She told me that she puts about one drop under her tongue. If she's in a lot of pain, she'll use two drops. What you've been prescribed sounds like a lot--based on what my friend's taking; she taught at Florida State University's nursing school for years before she retired a couple of years ago--and I hope your doc isn't ripping you off. I hope things improve!

MM requires some experimentation. Are you using Indica and not Sativa, or a hybrid?
Do you know the potency levels for THC and CBD in the syrup you are using? I use about 50 mg total per day from several types and depending on my activities. I put 2 tsps of syrup in my morning coffee to prevent pain from rampimg up. Just make sure you don't medicate on an empty stomach. Depending on my activities for the day I use "soothers" (small hard candies) at 10 - 12 mg or a capful of a beverage, or the very best and purist vape oil as necessary. Remember that the vape oil will guve more immediate relief but not last as long. Edibles take longer to have an effect, up to 30 minutes, and last longer. I use topical balms for the Myofasial pain if appropriate. My journey has taken 3 years and I have had to increase the dosage and frequency of use as my pain levels from SFN and Myofasial pain have increased. Without MM my quality of life would be almost negligible. I do not use any conventional drugs other than gabepentin at night. The only other rule, never use MM with any type of alcohol. Good luck. There are options for pain relief available.
