Burning Mouth Syndrome. I have it very severe.
I am a 76 year old women and have had this condition for almost a year. it is getting worse everyday. been to many doctors and not one of them has heard otf it, I am getting desperate

Hi @ristu, you may have noticed I moved your post to this existing burning mouth syndrome discussion so that others can follow along on the MLS laser discussion.
Looking back, I see it was @lauren123 originally brought up MLS treatment, so while we wait for her to respond, I wanted to share this information for everyone to read on MLS treatment.

@mamajomclane Hi, what I have learned is that the MLS laser stands for multiwave locked system. I first heard about it in another support group where someone was having good results for her BMS. Basically she said is not given in the mouth though-it’s all over-especially in her lymphatic system. She said she had 6 treatments and was having better success in 6 weeks than in all the 6 years of pills and potions.

@ristu Hi, Stu, amitriptyline and calcium channel blockers have not helped me. I have had BMS or Atypical trigeminal neuralgia since 2004 due to a dental incident. The only think that helps me is Klonipin, Cymbalta, and ambien for sleep. I also do yoga and see a chiropractor on a regular basis.
Hi Lauren. So, clonazepam has not work for me at all. I have not tried amitriptyline on calcium channel blockers yet. Just was curious, if you had tried that. I need to look into the laser treatment. Wondering if that will bring any relief, and have any side effects? Regards Stu
@ristu, My chiropractor is quite knowledgeable about lasers and uses one in his office. The next time I see him, I will ask him about the MLS laser. I have heard that some people respond well to amitriptyline. I can't use it because it causes my gums to throb worse than before application. Do you have BMS or Trigeminal neuralgia? Some people are diagnosed with both.
Hi Lauren. I have BMS. I'm curious as to how the action of the laser Works. Does it numb the nerves? Does it destroy the nerves? Does the laser have any long-term side effects? How long does it last, meaning is it effective for long-term? I appreciate any efforts. Thanks Stu
Hi everyone. So, I see there's a number of studies that are available on the internet on what they call a low level laser. The results in some of the cases appear to be an 80% Improvement in the pain management for burning mouth syndrome. If anyone has had this treatment, and is free of pain more than three months, I'd like to hear from you. Regards Stu
