These homes offer a safe, affordable, and comforting place to stay near medical centers, allowing patients to focus on healing rather than worrying about travel, lodging costs, or separation from loved ones. By providing a sense of community, emotional support, and practical resources, hospitality houses help reduce the physical and financial burdens that often accompany long-term treatment. For many transplant patients, these welcoming spaces become a lifeline—offering stability, connection, and hope when they’re needed most.

When the patient needing the transplant is a child, family-focused lodging is often a priority. Your child needs a clean and welcoming environment, but parents often need a place to stay that allows for siblings.

In 2025, the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota, opened the new Pediatric Transplant House. This new house is part of a three-facility campus that includes 84 guest rooms with 3 additional rooms in the pediatric house. The houses all have a home-like environment with each room offering a private bathroom, dresser, linens and towels. In addition, each house has a shared fully equipped kitchen, TV room, library, and recreation areas along with 24-hour laundry facilities. Parking is available onsite, and a free shuttle is ready to bring you to and from appointments at Mayo Clinic.
