“I will always remember sitting in the Blood Donor Center waiting room, enjoying my after-donation cookie and juice when a man walked in and shook my hand,” says Terry. “He said to me: ‘Thank you for saving my life.’”
That proud and poignant moment has stayed with Terry through the years and inspired him to continue donating to help others in need—like the stranger he met in the waiting room.
Since the 80s, Terry has been an avid blood donor. He grew up with a family of donors and remembers his father-in-law needing blood in an emergency situation many years ago. Seeing firsthand how blood products are used to help save people’s lives, Terry continues to encourage others to donate and hopes to spread awareness of the need.
Terry proudly wears his watch that he received after his 200th donation—yes, you read that correctly, 200 donations. He remembers setting the goal of 200 donations a few years back when he noticed very few names on the “200 and above” donation list
“It’s amazing that I have been able to achieve a personal goal while helping others along the way,” says Terry. “While I am proud of that 200 mark, it’s really about being a lifelong blood donor, and I hope others will consider donating throughout their lives.”
