Xen implant surgery for glaucoma: Anyone had it?

Posted by lendalin @lendalin, Feb 21, 2023

I have had zen eye surgery for my Glaucoma and have a poor outcome. My Father went blind in both eyes from glaucoma but today it doesn't”t happen as much as the advancements in medications. I have lost about half of the sight in my right eye. Has anyone out there had this surgery and was it successfully?

What exactly is zen eye surgery? I thought glaucoma required eye drops forever. Is glaucoma operable?

I think it’s “Xen”. Doing a Google search or talking to your doctor would give you a more comprehensive answer, but basically, it’s a surgery to place a stint in the eye. And it depends on what kind of glaucoma you have. My acute angle glaucoma was treated with laser surgery, which poked a hole in the upper part of my iris so that fluid could drain properly and prevent pressure build up. Other kinds of glaucoma are treated with drops or other surgeries, such as Xen.

I replied to your question, but inadvertently posted in the wrong box. The site wouldn’t let me repost the same thing again, so I’m trying it a different way. Here’s what I said: think it’s “Xen”. I had Xen in one eye 9 months ago . I did not recover well with irritation burning discomfort for 5 months despite being told by 2 drs tube was in correct position and only had brief couple months where discomfort was some better. . I am now back yo having high pressures using same eye drops and was told probably have scarring that needs to be broken up. I am in
Process of second opinion again and really just want it removed. It’s been hell . Now looking at different laser procedure . Interested in knowing anyone who had the laser. I had the little outpatient laser procedures years ago but this is different. I would not proceed with Xen in other eye as it was a 8 months awful but need to do something else now .
