g1501, it can be terrible. You wait forever for the appointment. And then find out they can only hear themselves. You probably need a new neurologist. You might ask a direct question, until there is a direct answer.
What is causing my intense migraine? What can you prescribe for my horrible migraine? What procedures would help my unbearable migraine.
Unfortunately there is no moneyback guarantee.
Best luck.
@g1501
What are your current symptoms beyond migraines? Have you had a mri of your brain? Are you taking any medication or receiving any treatment?
You can’t make a doctor listen to patients. They need to want to gather information from their patients to help them properly diagnose and treat them. If a doctor is not listening, that shows you that you need to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion from different doctors. Do some research on specialist doctors who accept your insurance and have good reviews/ratings by patients.
Replace her with someone who cares! Do some research and read the reviews. I fired my Neurologist after he basically did the same thing. He wasn't helpful and his response to my problem was basically make an appointment to see him in 6 - 12 months! I did my research, and now I have someone who actually cares about my health! Do the same!
You probably should get another doctor. This one sounds unconcerned. One thing I did with my husband having cancer and my mom having pulmonary emphysema was to write a narrative for each appointment for the doctor to read before he saw them. The narrative contained pertinent information to their current well being such as blood pressure, blood sugar, how they were feeling, any new problems and current activity. For instance, my husband was out doing leaf blowing, trimming trees, doing woodworking and repair when he had stage 4 lung cancer. They needed to know this to understand how his cancer was affecting him. The doctors seemed to appreciate these narratives immensely and paid more attention to his care. Also it's a good way to not forget something that you wanted to bring up to the doctor.

There's a saying in the fat community (where problems with healthcare are rampant), If your doctor does not listen to you or believe you, you are not receiving healthcare - you are receiving veterinary care. (I add to it, "and if I'm receiving vet care, I reserve the right to bite or pee on my provider".) Unless the type of doctor is hard to find in your area or under your insurance, there is no reason to put up with a doctor who will not listen. When you have a healthcare problem (and even when you don't), you need to have a partner - not an adversary. Good luck.
Amen.
Managed care.yiy take who they give you.
I am so sorry you are stuck with who they give you. Do they allow you to file complaints? Or can you request a new doctor? Or at very least, do you have someone who can go to your appointments as your patient advocate? Sometimes that helps.
This is unfortunatly a rampant problem. I know they are overworked but so are we and doing it with a headache everyday is such a strugle.
