Decades ago I was on Fosamax. At about the 5 yr mark I went to the doctor with GI issues, diagnosed as GERD, and he suspected that it was caused by the Fosamax. My mother was also on Fosamax and developed such bad chest pain that she thought she was having a heart attack. Ends up that she had Barrett’s Esophagus, highly suspected to be caused by the Fosamax. I am now in Risedronate (Actonel) for two years with no issues. I am awaiting Dexascan results so we shall see if it has helped.

2 ReactionsJust quit taking Fosomax due to esophagus pain and tightening, painful joints, and cramps. I take extra calcium, magnesium, vit K, biotin, and D3, but still have these symptoms. I do yoga, walk, and garden. Im 80 and otherwise healthy.
Because I took Fosamax I had to have a jaw joint replacement. Foxamax caused the left side of my jaw to crumble and now I have a metal jaw.
3 years of. No real change
