Wondering if Enhertu has difficult to handle side effects

Hi and thanks for the support and love we all receive from this support clinic. I’m 83, diagnosed with TNBC in Jan 2024. Had 2 lumpectomies, no lymph involvement. Had a few new bumps appear this summer and a biopsy showed a recurrence. Not sure what my choices are but meeting with my oncologist soon. Enhertu came up as a possible treatment. I was wondering how well it’s tolerated as chemo and immunotherapy sure took a toll on me. Thank you and hugs to us all.

Hi. It was given to me as a choice. So between Capecitabine/Xeloda a chemo pill or Enhertu. I chose Capecitabine because I talked to my primary doctor and my cardiologist and based on my co-morbity and medical issues. We thought it was the best choice. Both can affect the heart so to me it was important to look at which would cause less damage. Was also able to look at the possible side effects of each and discuss with my peer group that have taken them so I can be prepared. In my case I started with the highest dosage on after two cycles it was reduced. Still on it. Hope this information helps you in your decision making.

@bgt26 Thank you for the info. It’s a tough road with many choices. It’s a comfort knowing we are not alone as we handle the ups and downs. My anxiety runs high these days. Hugs!

I wish anxiety would fade away but unfortunately it comes and goes. In the end it passes and just not letting it overwhelm us and sweep us away. Big hug.
