That's very interesting. It would also be interesting to see what the pain levels would be between Male and Female Pro Athletes. Men make up the far more larger "population" in those groups. I see my Orthopedist about knee pain in a few days, I'll have to remember to look at the amount of women and men in the waiting area, and hope i remember to ask him what he thinks/sees. All of the Doctors are men. There is 1 male NP (the rest are women)and my Ortho's PA is a woman. The same where I go for Physical Therapy, all the providers except 1 are men, but I'm pretty sure we women are most of the patients.

sorry but my 2 AIs say the study does not conclude that women suffer more pain. women do report more pain.
.
the study says;
β€œdifferences in translation, symptom interpretation and response behavior may influence absolute prevalence estimates.” οΏ½
.
the AIs say
'the findings support comparisons of how often people report pain. They cannot establish equivalent quantities of suffering between people. Even yes/no answers retain the problem of what someone considers worth reporting.
A huge sample reduces random uncertainty; it cannot eliminate systematic differences in reporting. Consequently, interpreting differences between ages, sexes or countries as entirely differences in experienced pain goes beyond what this design establishes.'
