Why does life seem hard anytime you get it right?

Posted by ginnysnow @ginnysnow, 6 days ago

It often feels like life throws the toughest obstacles my way precisely when I've invested the most time and effort in detailed planning and mapping out every potential scenario. This has been a recurring pattern in my personal experiences; the more I meticulously plan and strategize, the more challenging and arduous my journey seems to become, deviating from what I would expect given the preparation.

Alan Watts says "You can't get a leg up on the Universe." It's the archetype of Sisyphus. The extistential (that's how Existence is) message is you keep rolling the boulder to the top of the mountain, only to have it roll back into the valley. The boulder does not come to rest on the mountaintop, leaving you with nothing left to do. The question is, how well do you roll the boulder.
In Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Pirsig says, "It's not the motorcycle you are working on. It's yourself."
Take a breather and let the Universe do some work for you (cf. Celestine Prophecy and The Alchemist).
Good luck.

This may be a Buddist saying "man plans. God laughs."

That is a touchstone for me when I get attached to anything.... especially plans.

Peace to you and yours.

I can relate and get how you feel. It’s bizarre how things turn out sometimes. It’s beyond frustrating. I keep trying to maintain my sense of humor, take pleasure in simple things and be grateful I’m healthy enough to work my job.

I think of the line "I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it" from the Indigo Girls song "Closer to Fine." We go around on our ships thinking everything is great but storms always toss us off course.

"Well, darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
And I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it
I'm crawling on your shores"

This human-life is changing everyday. Some good, some not, and ends some people. I’ve had a TBI from my life in 2012. But I’m alive… sure, I’ve lost a lot of stuff - some in my body and some my brain was broken, but I’m alive either way my wife, kids, grand-kids and the rest of my family. That’s love ❤️

Well, it's been beautiful here in Pennsylvania the last month and we decided to go on a vacation to Virginia Beach, Virginia. I thought the nice weather would last forever, everywhere. We're going soon and there are two hurricanes coming up the coast. Rain and severe winds have been forecast. I spent many hours looking for the perfect place and scheduled the vacation just before my next chemo appointment. I even splurged for an ocean view 🪟. Oh well, at least I'll see the hurricanes approaching and can run!! No matter what, I get to spend time with my family playing cards. And eating! I can't wait. ☔⛈️🐱⚡
