Who Can Possible Help??

Right ear, fullness, pressure and pain. Tinnitus 24/7. It all started Oct 2023. Lots of mucus. Halloween night, I got up and ear went closed. On the plus side, I can get it unplugged in the car, since 7/7/2024. Plugging and blowing, the gentlest of the gentle. Unplugs. RELIEF!!! It only lasts few minutes and then back to pressure and pain.
I have been told to pray and buy a book. (Local ENT's audiologist) It's my brain tricking me and it's my age (UW) I need a neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon (Spokane ENT) . EX ray of cervical spine showed diseased but not that bad. PT. I have been doing PT for years. It is NOT helping. Local PCP gave me a referral to OR Science Health for Sinus infection (They just shook their head). Variation of menieres from OR Health (I have never been dizzy or had nausea. Cochlear hydrops (take this med for herpes. Last cold sore I had was 2017 when I rode my bike to NM. I say med isn't helping. Take it some more. Then we will try med not made in US. When I said it's not working, he told me to try a hearing aide. Is it going to take away pain, pressure and tinnitus???? His reply was I could try it. Where am I going to get all this $$$$$$$$? I say, there is discomfort from right nostril to back of head to center of lower throat. The back of my head feels like it is ready to blow off. Tinnitus 24/7. No tinnitus 2023-24. Minimal 24-25. Getting louder every day 25-26. Called Mayo in 24. They said No. Again in 25. No again. I called again a month ago and they said keep trying. Try being a female and 71. They tell you what you feel. When your head starts to spin. I HAVE NEVER BEEN DIZZY>..... As far as 71. I ride my motorcycle to Mexican border in summer. Age is just a number. Stop judging me........

I have been struggling with what seems to be a sinus condition for about two years. ENT prescribed nasal spray. It helps to some degree but only for a short time. It seems like using a Neti pot with normal saline helps more. I can sleep better now, but I still have a lot of nasal congestion. I am very unstable on my feet and have trouble walking. I have to wonder if these things are related. Any comments?

Mzmary, your brain isn't tricking you. But you need a new ENT. I've read that most sinus infection are fungal. I suspect you sinus on the affected side. You might try afrin nasal spray. You might try pseudoephedrine tablets they are over the counter, but you have to ask for them at the pharmacy desk. https://www.youtube.com/watch

@gently Thank you. I do have those here. I appreciate any help I can get. In 2023/24 the mucus was all in my nose. It was really stretchy. When you blew your nose it was bloody with chunks. I told local ENT and he did look up my nose and say everything looks fine. But, by blowing my nose was the very first time my ear opened on 1/4/2024 for a very brief time. YES!!!!!! Now mucus comes down the back of my throat. There is never a need to blow my nose. Mucus comes from above the back of my throat. I am still not giving up. 10,000 plus steps a day.

Have you had your teeth checked? I had an abscessed upper back molar (tooth #2) that was never detected on a sinus CT (even w contrast) and was very hard to see on dental X-rays. It never hurt, was just a bit sensitive. It was diagnosed w a CBCT scan at an endodontist office. My symptoms were very similar to yours.

I had long lasting nasal issues, congestion, pouring water, etc, for several years….repeated ENT visits, smell/taste disorder,…..after various recommendations…..tried plain saline nasal spray. Most of my symptoms resolved in about a week. I use it twice a day as maintenance. I have no idea why this resolved my symptoms.

@celia16 I have had similar issues, especially at night. My nose would get do stuffy that it was difficult to sleep. ENT prescribed nasocort. That only helped slightly. Recently, I began using a neti pot with normal saline. That has been the best relief. Especially if I use it twice a day. Like you, I can't explain it. It just works... and no toxic chemicals being shot up into my sinuses.

@heisenberg34 , I have tried Neti pot a couple of times but it doesn’t work on me. I must have some plumbing problem that prevents the flow in my nose. So far the nasal spray is working fine. Thank goodness!

@celia16 Glad to hear it! Did you keep your mouth open when you used the Netipot?
