Which delivers medication better - a nebulizer or an inhaler?

This question comes up from time to time in both the MAC & Bronchiectasis group and the Asthma group.

I thought it might be a good idea to see what the experts and the research say - let's start with this post from Health Central - later I'll look for some comparative studies:
https://www.healthcentral.com/article/nebulizer-or-inhaler-which-one-works-best-for-your-child
The consensus is that for most people, a properly-suited inhaler is preferable for several reasons: portability, ease of use, short time needed, and simplicity (cleaning nebulizers is time consuming and often not done properly.)

My pulmonologist says med compliance is superior in inhaler users with asthma and COPD for all of the reasons listed above, so they have fewer exacerbations.

What is your experience?

Thank you Sue for starting a new post! Hopefully, this will get more people to add their experience and research. The article you posted is good info and good food for thought. I do prefer to have researched info to backup information. There are as many different opinions on all our lung troubles as there grains of sand! Hope your arm is feeling better.

The research is definitly out there. You might want to go to scholar.google.com to find the most current info. I am currently hampered by my limited time at the keyboard.
