Which Apple watch should I buy to monitor afib?
I am a 72 year old male, diagnosed with paroxysmal afib in June of ‘23. Increase in events led to Pulse Field Ablation in June ‘24. So far no reoccurrence. EP very optimistic based on what he saw during the procedure and followup ECGs but suggests an Apple watch as a monitor. Yes, still on Eliquis. I am a luddite who is totally baffled by the choices on the Apple website. For basic monitoring, what would you suggest? Thanks!

If you currently are hitched to the IOS suite (Apple and its variant operating suites and wearable tech), then the latest, or the previous (cheaper) Apple watch versions will be fine. If you aren't currently an Apple user, Garmin and Samsung also have smart watches, and they work well on Android phones. So, if you're an Apple phone user, stick to Apple watches...they're excellent. If you're currently an Android phone user, pick Garmin or Samsung.
In Canada, where I live, the Samsung Galaxy watches since 2022 are able to measure SPO2 (oxygen saturation), Heart Rate (HR), Blood Pressure (BP), and can run an ECG to measure/detect your heart rhythm and atrial fibrillation. My own EP accepted that I had recurrent AF (Atrial Fibrillation) solely on the basis of an ECG I sent to his offices digitally that had been recorded by my Galaxy 4.

My Apple Watch Series 4 detected my A-Fib in January 2024. I then saw a new cardiologist (had been misdiagnosed by 1st Dr in 2023) for diagnosis & treatment. I’m a 77 year old female & got the watch just for the fall detection feature, b/c I have CP. I upgraded my watch yesterday to Apple series 10. My cardiologist said the Apple is the best in accuracy.

I do have an iPhone so they interact perfectly.
I'm extremely happy as the phone not only will alert me if my BPM go over or under the settings, it will enable me to have it contact 911 if I fall.
