Waldenstrom: When will treatment stop? Is this forever?

Posted by zeedee1 @zeedee1, Sep 5, 2025

Waldenstroms about 2 years
Now. On Ruxience and Octigam infusions and Brukinsa pills… also dexamethosone.. still anemic. Numbness in feet
Much better.
But Igm coming down and igg going up. Other than nausea and diarrhea and tiredness I think I’m doing much better.
Not losing weight consistently either anymore. At what point do infusions and meds stop?

Hi @zeedee1 Continued chemo can surely wear you down after a while, as you well know. From what you’ve written it sounds like your treatments have improved some of your symptoms though, so that’s good, As for how long this continues, that is a good question for you to pose to your doctor. Some treatments might remain life-long but sometimes patients are able to take rest periods between doses. Again, this is something to talk over with your doctor.

Have you discussed the med durations with your hematologist?

I have . He temporarily cut back Brukinsa from 4 pills a day to two. Labs Thursday so we shall see how that’s working. He had mentioned the immunotherapy octigam maybes life long.. in fusions start up again next week. Hoping for more time between infusions at the very least. Thanks for getting back to me

Been on Ruxience, octigam, prednisone and octigam for 17 rounds. Is this a forever treatment or do you eventually go into remission but still
Stay on meds? Can’t get a straight answer. Thx
