When does afib need intervention?
My husband has had CHF since he was 23 (they think from the flu), and he is 43 now. He has been stable on his meds (although at max dosage) for a couple years now and even reduced the need for Lasix while his EF stayed stable. My concern is that 2 days ago his defibrillator went off, and the doctor now says he has Afib needing an ablation. However, going through his test results i can find afib mentioned in his device downloads for at least the past 2 years, so this is not new. Why are we now doing surgery? In fact the numbers in his history seem to have always been there. What am I missing? Anyone else experience this?

@robinkitchens, I've add your question to the Heart Rhythm Conditions support group. You posted in the Transplant group. Did you have questions specific to transplant and afib?
Thank you. His old dr retired and now his new dr is looking at doing a transplant sooner than we thought. I forgot to mention that. But the real question was about afib so thanks for moving the conversation. I do have questions about the procedures for full heart transplants.
