What immunizations were you told to get after CAR-T?

I had a stem cell transplant in 2023 and had to get my childhood immunizations again. In 2025 I had a CAR-T and was told to get immunizations again. This time the list is smaller but they have me getting the pneumonia vaccine 4 times. I don’t understand why as the recommendation for others is a one time dose.

@jefe, you're right that healthy adults typically get only one shot of the pneumococcal vaccine. However, the number of pneumonia shots needed varies by age and health. Having had CAR-T cell therapy likely is the reason for needing more doses. Have you been able to ask your team about this? What did you find out?

I did contact my team at Mayo . They said it was the Infectious Disease Society of America and the CDC’s recommendation that you start all over like children do with the 4 vaccine regimen. It is in the altered immunocompromised section of the CDC ‘s recommendation.
