What songs of resilience inspire you?

I have a friend who is fighting cancer. It’s serious. His friends, family and colleagues are praying and sending well wishes his way, but I want to do more. I’m a music person. I would like to send him a link for a song that offers inspiration. Can anyone share what has brought them solace and perhaps put a smile on your face? My friend, his wife, sister and I attended a Paul McCartney concert a few years ago. I’m thinking a Beatles tune might be in order. Any genre of music would work though. Thanks.

Really wasn’t seeking a song but out of blue, a particular random song I heard once before kept being reminded in my head… so I looked up the song lyrics to find out what it’s about and got the messages from whomever trying to communicate…several different versions of the lyrics exit, hope you’ll find your message. It put a pause on a runaway trainwreck mind of mine for a bit…the name of the song is Hands by Jewel

It's a bit of a depressing song, but a song called "Reindeer King" by Tori Amos has helped me out a lot. I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and my world has turned upside down. I'm on androgen deprivation therapy and feel like I'm not myself. The lyrics of this song really speak to me. Some of them are:

Crystal core
Your mind has been divided from your soul
Now you say you are that stranger on your shore

Grief it brings the need, the naked freeze
Caught in the frost
Numb, unbearable thoughts, your inner need
Fire not lost, no way, not lost

You gotta get you back to you
Get you back to you

Crystal core
You are at the still point of the turning world
The divide
Fearing death, desiring life

You gotta get you back to you
Get you back to you

Hi: I’m a fan of Tori Amos but am not familiar with that song. I will seek it out now that I know about it. I love “Winter” because it reminds me of my relationship with my father.

Two beautiful songs that might qualify, both by Pat Metheny: Praise, and Goin' Ahead.

Winter is a beautiful song. Her early material was top notch. Her later stuff is more hit and miss but she still hits it out of the park from time to time. I've seen her live at least a dozen times, and met her in person several times--she's incredibly kind and extremely hard working.

“Mission in the Rain “ by the Jerry Garcia Band, and “Great is thy Faithfulness “ by Austin Hope Worship do it for me, among too many others to mention.

Music has saved me. Listening, hoping, praying gives me power to go on.
One Christian faith song.
1. “Take my hand precious Lord”. “I am tired I am weak I am worn”
Various artists have done this Ronny Milsap, Aretha Franklin.
One secular song:
2. “I lived” . By One Republic. “With every broken bone, I swear I lived.”

Blessings.
