What should I expect after my back operation?

Posted by elizaolson @elizaolson, Mar 18, 2023

Putting myself on the wait list for my back operation has paid off and I will have the operation this coming Wednesday, March 23rd. I will be spending one night in the hospital or two at the max.
I have spinal stenosis at L4 and L5.
What should I watch out for? The last thing I want to do is undo the benefits of the operation.
Thanks in advance.

Well folks, I had my surgery and I am back home. The surgeon was late because the previous operation took longer. My surgery was about an hour. I was kept a few days extra as i live alone. Fraser Health made arrangements for someones to come in twice a day to make sure I was given the same help as I would receive if I were in the hospital.
My home has proven very useful. I do have a walker complements of the Red Cross. I can move around holding on something for support.😊 Yesterday I met my goal of walking around the fir tree in front of my strata. I plan to do it again today. I am determined to have a shower when the Care Aid comes today around noon.
The doctor: Dr. Richard Lee. The first time I met him was when he came bursting out of surgery to tell me why my surgery was late. He's like an "Energy Bunny." He was almost running.
The hospital: Royal Columbian, in New Westminster, BC.
Financial provider: The government of BC
My progress: Improving every day. I can hardly wait for my little dog Miah comes home. In the meantime, she is terrorizing my Great grandchildren.
Conclusion: It's all worth it.
