WHAT MEDICATIONS HELP WITH KNEE AND HIP ACHES

I have PMR. I was weaned off prednisone. I was weaned off high-dose prednisone. I am weaning myself off Kevzara. Injection was every 2 weeks. I upped it to every 3 weeks. Next....it will be every 4 weeks. Have to see my Rheum Dr. What do you all take for the aches in your knees and hip area? { Aleve, Tylenol, Advil, etc...)

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) Support Group.

I work with a movement specialist , 99.9% of my aches are not PMR related. They are physical, loss of muscle, poor gait, posture etc….all from fighting the PMR fight when I was down and out. I run to the pool, hot tub, walking, biking, etc. to keep those joints loose.
Pills are my enemy.

Please see an Ortho about your knee pain. I have had PMR since 2019 and discovered in 2021 that my knee pain is due to Osteo Arthritis and not PMR. I get semi-annual hyaluronic acid injections (the jell you hear advertised on TV) in my knees and no more knee pain.

If you are taking prednisone, NSAIDS are contraindicated, leaving acetaminophen the only alternative. There may be similar contraindications for some of the meds you are taking. So, please double check what pain relievers are safe for you.

@jabrown0407 I second that. I too have been getting hyaluronic acid injections for three years in my knee and it works.
Though, it depends on the cause of the pain in your knee(s).
