Lymphocytic Colitis: What is remission?

Posted by 44tiredof19 @44tiredof19, Dec 5, 2023

What is remission for lymphocytic colitis? After 5 years with this diagnosis I continue to have loose stools four and five or more times daily. Will I ever have normal stools?

I am following this thread. I, too, have recently been diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis. I was previously diagnosed with celiac disease. Oddly, I did not have celiac symptoms. I have been having on-going symptoms related to LC for 2 1/2 years now. Both LC and celiac were verified via colonic biopsy. In February of this year, I sought the help of a dietitian. She has helped a little. At times, I do have a normal BM, but that is rare. I am careful about what I eat before leaving the house. I feel trapped in this cycle.

@dp21416 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I am glad you have further information on your situation now.

I'm sorry to hear normal BMs are rare and that you feel you have to be careful what you eat before leaving the house. You mentioned you feel trapped in this cycle. Do you mean feeling housebound, or something else?
