What is good daily med that only treats anxiety and depression?

I see a psychiatrist but she prescribed heavy meds for psychotic and other things. I feel these are too strong for me.

Exercise and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy!

Exercise and cognitive therapy can’t hurt with exercise being one of the best ways to fight depression and anxiety.
If you truly suffer from depression cognitive therapy is not something I have found is very effective. Depression is a disease and it runs in families. All the talking in the world is not going to make it go away.
That is my humble opinion.

I found that paxil has helped me with both depression and anxiety. I have been taking it for over 35 years. It doesn't cost me any bad side effects although lately I have some issues with depression upon waking but once I get out of bed I'm okay. Sometimes it's trial and error it also helps if you talk to your psychiatrist truthfully especially about physical symptoms that will help him to find him or her to find the best medicine for you. Exercise and fresh air and sunshine are very helpful to me and I think that's probably why I'm getting some depression lately because it's cold and dreary where I am. Hang in there you'll be okay.

Thank you for this information. I will bring it up to my doctor next time I see her.

The one thing about Wellbutrin I should have mentioned is that it isn't great for anxiety. Works for depression but is not really an anti-anxiety drug as it's very activating.

I have been on antidepressants since I was 40 I am 65 now the doctor has me on Abilify and I still feel the same. I’m thinking about using and asking the doctor for Wellbutrin. Is there anybody out there on Abilify?

I totally agree with Dave it is rooted in biology with the neurotransmitters . This is referred to as clinical depression and in my case it's it's certainly helped me 100% when I started taking paroxetine. It worked on my depression as well as my anxiety if you have both of these conditions it's almost like both sides of the same coin.
Having said that I do believe that different medicines are for different people depending on your neurotransmitters I was very fortunate to have the first medicine that I tried work for me.
Find a doctor pharmacology psychiatrist who specializes in mood disorders. Don't give up hope I wish you well

Username j...same here! Yes it's cold and very windy I can't walk outside either and no sun exercise is is wonderful outside especially so I can't wait for that so I have been waking up depressed but as soon as I get downstairs and get going and do my chores etc and get out even if it's just to walk around a store or a mall it helps me immensely but had I not been on the pack so I don't think I could have gotten out of bed.
I have been on paxil for almost 40 years and never planned to go off of it in fact I have increased my dose over the years and I'm on a very high dose but no side effects I'm afraid to even mention my dose but at my age 74 I don't care I just want to feel good and be able to do things throughout my day.

To everyone... Many doctors especially general practitioners don't give an adequate dose you will find if it doesn't work if you can't find a medicine to work perhaps they're not giving you the right dose.. again the answer is in the doctor.
