What have you created lately?
I love working on creative projects! Over the years I have done gourd art, calligraphy, cross stitching, made purses and bags from recycled jeans and have created locker hooking tapestries.
This week I have been attending virtual arts and crafts workshops and have learned so much! Since I am working on a lot of projects made from recycled clothes, I especially enjoyed a workshop on making a landscape picture out of fabric. Here’s the piece I have just finished. It’s only 5x7, but it was a lot of fun making it.
I hope others will share their latest projects!

I thought Elden Ring would be terrific, but, TBH, I'm an older guy and don't have 18 year old reflexes anymore so some of the boss fights are just tedious. With other studios, if I can't take out a boss in 4-5 tries, I turn down the difficulty level, finish the boss, then turn it back up. For example, I just finished Clair Obscure and I don't think I would have stuck with it to the end if I couldn't dial back the difficulty on a couple of the bosses.
Singing in the Drain is very clever, Scott! Thanks for the smile.
I have been crocheting laprobes for my cancer infusion center, for those who may not have something warm to cuddle under. Then they can take them home with them. Also, I make simple hats for the cancer center.
As a quilter, I have been getting ready to make quilt tops for Quilts for Cops https://quiltsforcops.com/ and also making small quilts to be used with stuffed animals for my local law enforcement agency to use when situations with young children arise.
Like @methel, using a hobby that is dear to me blesses me to help others !

Great question--and enjoying the answers. As a professional writer, I've published numerous books. This new one is dear to me because I brought together many of my poems that had appeared in magazines but not in full collections. So the writing is kind of quirky and informal. Title: "What Solitude Sees In Me." The oldest poem in the book was written when I was 21--and hospitalized with an illness that would change my life's course. Pub date is mid-June. Publisher is Casa Urraca in my home state of New Mexico. I never know if writing helps my readers directly, but it is how I've always lived and I love it.
So wonderful that you will be publishing a book of your poems! My dad was a poet who wrote a lot, but they were all written and published in Russian.
I have two memoirs almost finished, but I find publishing process to be very intimidating. So, I will just self-publish enough copies to give to my kids and grandkids.
I admire you for having multiple books published!
That is very cool to hear about your dad! The tradition of Russian literature has some of the most beautiful poetry in the world. I've been in small press/independent publishing world most of life--as editor, publisher, magazine writer, and author. But self-publishing is also great. And so easy right now. It's a wonderful idea to share memoir copies with your family--sure to be treasured.
Self-publishing is a viable option, and quite affordable.
I went that route for a novel back in 2002.
I still sell a few copies now and then.

It's pretty cool to have a physical book that has your own words in it.
(And by the way, I'm a big fan of Russian lit, falling on the Tolstoy side. I've read "War and Peace" fourteen times.)
I may consider selling my books on Amazon too! I will need to edit my book and exclude some stories that are meant only for the family, but I think both of my memoirs are very interesting. The first one was about my acute myeloid leukemia journey and how the diagnosis had completely changed me and my life. My second memoir is about my childhood in Ukraine, when it was part of the Soviet Union, and then coming to America.
I went to one of those paint & social classes last month. I had signed up to do a painting of 3 birds on wood. The class is about stenciling, using precut designs on raw wood.
As an old art major that moved on with life in a totally different career, I never created any real art. Retired, I thought, well, maybe they won’t mind if I just do my own thing. Three birds, not stenciled.
The photo is the result. I think painting sandpipers is my new creative outlet!
I’ve always loved watching sandpipers. They seem pretty happy running around finding bits to eat. They always seem to outrun the next wave.
Perseverance at its best!!
I love your sandpipers! I can see how painting them can become addictive.
