What do people pay for Abiraterone?
I'm taking abiraterone for my PC and initially with insurance I was getting it with prednisone mail order for around $250 a month. That was setup by my medical care team. I started searching around and found that I could get it locally at my local supermarket chain for around $75. I asked them if they could get it and they said sure. I then called my prescription insurance company and they gave me the price if I was buying it from them. That is a difference of close to $200 difference. That's a chunk of change for anybody.
I just wanted to pass this on to try to help others who might be paying too much.

I am on a United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plan which includes drugs, & I was paying $95/month (120 250mg tabs) for generic Abiraterone.
I asked the pharmacy what I would have to pay if not on the plan, & they said about $1000/month.
That's better than the $13,000/month when the drug (Zytiga) was first released ten years ago.
I was able to get it for $0 through The Assistance Fund. (www. TAFcares.org). I recall my oncologist needed to sign the application. It might help to give them a call (855) 318-3298.
