What CT Schedule is Recommended for Recurrance Monitoring?

Posted by patti303 @patti303, Sep 8, 2023

Are there guidelines or a recommended schedule for CT scans after surgery and chemo completion? I heard that for the first 12 months after chemo they recommend CT scans every 3 months. What about after 12, 24 or 36 months if there is no evidence of disease (NED)? Anyone know where to find this information?

I was advised by a Mayo oncologist that after completion of chemo, I should involve CT/AP/P and labs (including CA19=9) every three months for the first year, with potential to transition to every 4-6 months for the second year and every 6 months beyond. It is important for you to be your own advocate when dealing with your local oncologist to make sure he follows the recommendations. This has been my experience with my local oncologist, with constant reminders.

Every three months for up to two years. Then, every six months until fifth year. After five years, I think it goes to annual. At 10, you are considered free and clear!! Let’s all get there!!

I would modify that to monthly for the first 3 months, then go to 3 month intervals.
