What can I do about the people calling me mentally ill when I am not?
I posted on another online forum and ask sexual questions and thinks I have a problem but I really have anxiety and mild intellectual disability that cause me to ask the same questions without realizing it. Some comments said “Now you've asked this question twice. I think you're mentally ill” another one said “Change the doctor who said you're not mentally ill they obviously suck at their job” They call me mentally unstable and someone said “I’m sorry but this is absolutely untreated mental illness that we are being subjected to every day. I’ve told her before and it still rings true. Get the help you need, anon. Your behavior is weird, and off-putting, which I think you know, due to the constant anonymity. Reporting everyone who tells you the truth doesn’t fix anything either” And also “I don’t need to be a psychiatrist to recognize that your mental health issues are constantly on full display here, and if they weren’t then nobody would comment on it. You have had several people now make this claim, so what do you think that says about your outward behavior? Something is wrong with you ma’am. In any case, we can end this conversation here, Oneviewpoint’s notifications have been blown up enough with this exchange“ They say stop being a sex addict and get a hobby. But I’m not a sex addict I am having casual sex and why does it seem like they think something is wrong with me? Now people want nothing to do with me and I feel like everyone hates and and I’m depressed of these comments. Why are they even assuming that I’m mentally ill and denying my doctors saying I’m not? Why does everyone hate me? What am I doing wrong?

People make all kinds of comments online. If I encounter someone who is uncivil or hurtful, I simply leave that forum. I try to be supportive and kind to others snd expect the same from them. So, I wouldn’t tolerate it. There are positive places to share.

3 ReactionsPeople out there are nothing but keyboard cowards IMO. Most of them probably couldn't hold a face to face conversation with another person to save their lives. Their opinions don't mean a f--king thing, so just ignore them.

1 ReactionThe negative people who make these comments are here for the wrong reasons. We are supposed to be a support network, not a place to bash people who need advice or support. Ignore the ignorant people and focus on those who care about you. I tell people everyday that if they don’t like what they are seeing, then they should turn their head. You need to see that you are God’s creation and should be treated with respect. Praying for you. God bless.

1 ReactionI can only guess that human nature is to be judgmental and quick to analyze and diagnose people they have not met in person. Online assessments of someone's way of saying things are not true because an online chat is just a person writing without using critical thinking, compassion and being aware that their words are received by a person who is sensitive.
You might want to share your thoughts with a person you can trust who is in front of you. Someone you know. If you are getting the same type of treatment from people who know you, then you might want to think twice about saying things they feel are offensive.
We also need to be considerate of the other person's feelings that we cannot control. If someone you talk with responds with negative and hurtful words, you need to respect that and decide how to change your way of saying things?
Writing about topics that strangers might take as negative, offensive or disgusting will almost always have a very bad reply.
If you're talking about having sex, this topic is a very private and sensitive one. You may need to realize that the majority of people don't talk about their sexual activities because it is not a topic that one puts out to the public. For you to get good responses, and if you are truly concerned about why you are focused on the topic of 'sex', then you might want to consider whether a professional can help you understand that issue.
So, complaining about people's written responses won't help your concerns.
Women to women in-person talks are much more appropriate for certain personal and private stuff like sex than casting out to a public forum or group. So--choose the space. Otherwise, I'm not surprised that you are frustrated from the words and comments you are getting. You control the space. If you don't like what you are hearing or reading--stop it all together by leaving.
And, if people believe you're playing with their minds, that will get just what you are seeing and it's cruel to continue throwing out topics that the group doesn't want to read in a group without faces and without having personal experiences with.
I hope this will help you think of other people's feelings, too. Their feelings are valid and you need validation. Expecting some diagnosis is also not appropriate. Your behavior can be assessed appropriately by a behavioral health professional. That doesn't mean you are mentally ill. We all have mental health behaviors (depression, anxiety, anger, etc.). Behavioral health professionals are psychiatrists, psychologists and other health labels. I see behavioral health professionals because I have BiPolar, depression and anxiety. The word "mentally ill is not the same as having 'mental wellness'. Google it and ask for the definition. Most people think that a person who is always depressed is mentally ill. That's incorrect. I know because I have hundreds of hours trained as a peer recovery specialist. It does not mean you're dangerous. It does not mean you're bad. It only means you should consult a professional. If the doctors tell you that you're not mentally ill, but people who don't know you and who read your words are being judgmental. I'm trained to show you the strengths you have. You appear to want answers to an issue you are truly concerned about. But, I can be wrong. You can be a person who likes playing with people's mind. I don't know that. I cannot know that unless I personally have observed you. So--take all the negative comments with a grain of salt. Don't make it about. you. Make it about the other person. It's not a personal thing. It's an impersonal stranger who can't know nor can they be understanding due to whatever they may be experiencing.

3 ReactionsI read the initial post by @gymnastxoxo96 to say the rude comments were on other sites, not here. Perhaps they will clarify.

1 ReactionThere's a wonderful saying in ALANON (for spouses of those in AA): "What someone else thinks of me is none of my business." I love it!
