What brought you joy today?
If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:
1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

Having no doctors appointments.
Even though I just spent 5 days in the hospital for chemo-induced double pneumonia and temporarily on oxygen. what brought me joy today was the report from last weeks PETscan showing near complete resolution of my esophageal tumor, near complete resolution of the metastatic spinal tumor, and near resolution of 4 out of 5 lymph nodes. 3 months ago I couldn’t swallow even water, and today I can eat anything that I want- although reduced appetite keeps me using enteral feedings for over half of my nutrition. This part is temporary. I’m now joyful every day, praise Jesus
Hello relicmeister, we share some unwanted health issues, and your positive attitude is commendable.
I too have esophageal cancer that has returned after four years and hopefully clear after recent surgery at Barnes in St. Louis.
One year ago I was diagnosed with Merkel cell cancer and was treated by surgery, radiation and immunotherapy. The immunotherapy, after 22 treatments caused a fluid buildup in both lungs. The initial treatment of steroids and anti-biotics was unsuccessful. Yesterday I had a bronchoscopy to determine what type of infection so a treatment can be determined. I start oxygen today.
Any advice for a fellow believer?
Hi Roger, sounds like you’ve been through plenty already and are hardened to the treatment and sufferings. I was first afraid I’d be on O2 long term, and physically incapacitated, because I’ve never been unable to manage my needs, and I won’t be able to work ( I’m working part time) while on oxygen because our precision optics lab/ shop used some open flame
( torches). 2nd day home from hospital and my breathing has improved maybe 25% or more since, so I’d bet I’m off the oxygen within a week. Need to relax but also test yourself with standing, very small walks and lowering the O2 and seeing how the breathing goes. Keep a finger pulse oximeter around. And Always, Always keep the faith in both the darkest and lightest moments and he won’t let you down.
Good luck
Hide-and-seek with my daughter's puppy (can anyone help me find her?).
That is my joy for today, instant smile and chuckle, so cute
This picture of your puppy brought me a good smile - love it
Okay, so today is a little mixed, but anyway,. Had the day off today, always a good thing, got the front lawn mowed, always gives pleasure when viewing after finishing. While out mowing, had a chance to talk with my neighbor, always nice to chat. I have arthritis in my left hip area, had it for many years, well today I remembered that I use to stretch my leg on the bench in the garage, started doing that and already is helping. The mixed part comes from sides from meds a little rough today but yet, we still be rocking! Best to all.
Joy comes in a lot of new forms since I was found in Stage 4.
Today I walked out of store and a bunch of little kids were selling $20 bags of pop corn for money for them to have more learning items in their church. The pop corn was excellent.
Funny day today,, got my firmagon and Xgeva shot this afternoon and still the day has been good. I like to make note to myself that there are days like today, of course not every day is a downer but for some reasons days like today make me extra happy. I try not to over analyze it, just go with the flow and be happy. Come to think of it, I really can't answer what brought me joy today only that I have it. Best to all.
