Wellbutrin and alcohol

Hello all. I am beginning a journey of trying Wellbutrin. I did a GeneSight testing and this particular medication scored highly for being effective for me. With that being said, I’m always nervous to try something new and go to the internet seeking answers. I’ve read that Wellbutrin and Alcohol is not allowed. I do not drink a lot, just socially. Can anyone provide insight on if a drink or two on occasion is allowed on Wellbutrin?

Alcohol is a depressant. Not what you want to see with an antidepressant. Why take the chance of having a bad reaction. Not all social events need alcohol. I’ve learned to do without it. It can be done.

@milleral Since you said you drink on occasion, socially, it seems like this is something to ask the doctor who prescribed Wellbutrin to you. I'm hoping that Wellbutrin works for you.
