Multiple Heart Issues & Dizziness - How Do I Narrow it Down?

Posted by hollymarie @hollymarie, Oct 30 4:13pm

Hi 🙂 67 y/o male in transition here. Last year or more, I am daily experiencing dizzy, lightheaded and off-balance, More times than I care to acknowledge, these symptoms have put me on the ground (floor) with no ability to regain my footing or balance for usually 20 minutes or more, unless a neighbor hears my call for help. A number of times I've ended up in the ER, At least once, I became an inpatient. My medical history is a mess. Some of my issues are as follows
A--Fib,
Valve replaced (Open Heart),
COPD &
orthostatic hypotension.
Ive had almost as many EKGs as I've had office visits. So, my question here is twofold. 1 what the he** Do I have and would an eeg help?

thanks everyone, HollyMarie

All of those conditions can cause dizziness. Has the Dr. indicated any other problems that could be the problem? I know orthostatic hypertension can cause dizziness. Keep a log of every symptom and take it with you to the Dr. So sorry you are going through this. Get up slowly and no fast moving. Good luck and God bless. ❤️

Can you wear a patch monitor for a few weeks or a month so you could see whether it is your heart? Are you thinking you have epilepsy? Are you missing time during those episodes?

Perhaps you need a heart cath?

I had dizziness and wound up on the floor a few times.
I found a pulmonary specialist who specializes in heart and lungs. They look at the 2 organs as 1. My PS ordered tests heart Cath and heart echo and a couple of others. When the tests results were not clear, one Dr redid the tests himself and the PS was able to question the performing doctor while he was doing the procedure..,,,
The result was that some of the issues were my heart, some were lack of oxygen, and some were from pulmonary hypertension. Some were even a medication increasing the effect of heart rhythm medication. It wasn’t done quickly, but I can now live without inadvertently greeting the floor….
Only a doctor can help you isolate your problem areas and help to alleviate them.
Good luck!
