Weight Loss
I started the 3 antibiotics in May after feeling poorly and testing positive for MAC in March. I have lost aprox. 15 percent( 20 pounds)of my body weight since diagnosis. My last 2 sputum test have come back negative, but continue to cough a lot and feeling fatigued. I am still on antibiotics
How normal is the weight loss?
Thanks for any input Dean H

very common! Most people loose quite alot.
I've had two MAC infections, seven years apart. Both times I lost 14 lbs. or so and was able to only gain 7 lbs. back. At this point I'm 5"6" and working hard to maintain 120 lbs.
I found this PowerPoint by Michelle McDonald of NJH. A few years old but the info is still up to date. Hope it's helpful.

I lost 15 pounds and finally stopped. I was already slim and did not need to lose weight. 136 down to 121 I now eat like a horse but have not gained.
I have been drinking pineapple juice because thought was good for lung health.
I take a PPI for ulcers probably caused by baby aspirin.
Does reflux cause ulcers or vice-versa?
Or two different things?
That is awesome! Thank you! Irene5. ( Trying to figure out how to print that out)
Maybe download it to your phone for reference?
I will try that. Thank you!
That was the only symptom I didn’t get and could loose 15 lbs. but guess I should be happy as I have some weight if it does progress.
Yes I remember when I was first diagnosed with NTM ( Simiae) and bronchiectasis, I was told to make sure I eat properly. I didn’t lose the weight until 2022 when I was diagnosed with abscesses. If I ate as many calories a day then as I do now I would probably be blowing up. This also happened to tuberculosis patients who would get rail thin and look like POW‘s
