Weight gain after hysterectomy
I have heard/seen so many women talk about the amount of weight they gained after having a hysterectomy. I'm scheduled for a partial in February, and I'm trying to prepare myself for everything in general. I've never even had a surgery like this with anesthesia. I have never had a weight problem, but my hormones have been out of whack as of late and I've gained some fat around my midsection. Not weight...just belly fat. I'm 45, and developed a CVT (blood clot in the head) in June. I was taken off of birth control, and things have been messed up ever since. I'm on a blood thinner, have uterine fibroids, and heavy bleeding which has caused chronic anemia. Now I recently found out I have endometrial hyperplasia. I had an endometrial biopsy done on Wednesday and I'm waiting on the results from that, but have moved forward with scheduling the hysterectomy regardless due to the heavy bleeding. I tried an IUD, but it fell out after 3 months.
I know that for the first few weeks I won't be able to do much. But I'm hoping I'll start feeling better overall, and will want to exercise again. Have the energy to do so. Unfortunately I am a picky eater and not so healthy when it comes to all that, so I'm really going to have to figure it all out, and use discipline. I know at the end of the day it's hard to say exactly what will happen. Everyone's body is different. But those hormones just have a way of working their bad magic, and it seems that the consensus is the majority do gain some amount of weight. Just wondering about other's experiences. Weight and surgical.
