Weaning off Zolpidum
Hello. I’m 36yrs old and unfortunately have been on zolpidum since about 20yrs old. I hate it. Now that I have kids I dream of the days where I don’t need it.
Has anyone have success on weaning off this. My dr brought up replacing it with a different medication but I don’t want to be trading one in for the other I just want to be able to live life without needing any medications. I used to be on adderall. I stopped that. I quit smoking and vaping. I feel like quitting Zolpidum is going to be my hardest thing yet to deal with. I am currently down from 10mg to 2.5mg this last couple weeks and I’ve been taking melatonin with the 2.5mg it was ok putting me to bed but I can’t stay asleep for the life of me. Last night was my first night I decided I wasn’t taking the zolpidum and was just going to do 10mg of melatonin. Boy I toss and turned all night and even when I start to dose off it’s the lightest sleep and a pin dropping on the ground would wake me up. I sleep with a sound machine because I’ve gotten used to it with my kids so it helps a little but I am hoping after a week of hell my body will start to regulate? Sleep has always stressed me out and I hate this but I hate this medication more especially the new information they are finding out in regards to long term use 😭.
Please let me know if there’s a light at the end of this tunnel !!
Signed a tired mama 😔
