Watery eyes because of dust mite allergy?
We live in a 2600 sq.ft. dust bowl.I think since we built this house and moved in it stays dusty.Wife and i get into arguments about all the crud still piled up in the great room.I have had a watery left eye daily on and off and i think its dust mites messing with me.I am gonna try a eye wash solution today.Anyone else have watery eyes because of dust mite allergt or?

Hi, @larry68 - I wanted to let you know I moved your post about dust mite allergy and watery eyes to its own discussion, as I thought it merited it.
I personally have a dust mite allergy and have had trouble with watery eyes. Vacuuming a whole house or hanging around in a garage or unfinished basement (which most people don't dust) can get to me. I've used lodoxamide (Alomide) eye drops daily (or more recently, as needed) and then my doctor switched me to cromolyn 4 % ophthalmic solution, due to availability or my formulary (not sure which). Using drops does help with any itching or watering.
My husband and I also just got a new HVAC. It has helped with its improved filtration for my dust allergies in general. I realize that no one just runs out and gets a new HVAC unless absolutely necessary, as they are expensive and not a fun way to spend money. But I have also read you can upgrade just the filtration part of an HVAC, which I found interesting.
Are you saying your home is a dust bowl because of its orientation? Number of objects in it?
Did you get to try the eye wash solution? If so, did it help?

1 ReactionIf only one eye which side to you sleep on? Could it be your pillow? Do you have carpets? There are test kits that might be useful. All sorts of other causes. Good luck working out the cause

1 ReactionI am or was a mold inspector with my own lab and used to include bedding tests therefore my suggestion
What do the labels say? Cotton does not protect against mold or bacteria although it should protect against dust mites if tightly woven. If the pillow casing is synthetic that may be the problem although polyethylene-polypropylene protectors may be the most effective under a cotton pillow case.

3 Reactions@ailsas They don't start getting watery till i get out of bed and leave the bedroom for 30 minutes or so.I can't remember but the sheets are not cotton, they are the same kind that high end Hotels use so they don't have to deal with bed bug infestation.
. Do you have dry eyes? Have you checked with an ophthalmologist? I know I have dry eyes (sjogren’s) and the one with the poorest vision is drier.

1 Reaction@larry68 further thought- hotel sheets are probably made of microfiber - bacteria and fungi love microfiber. If high end are of silk then that is not the cause. Always find and read labels!
