Watermelon Tip: Foods with lycopene that may protect against cancer

Posted by eldorado80 @eldorado80, Apr 4 2:23pm

I eat watermelon now almost every day since discovered. The Lycopene in watermelon, cooked tomatoes and several other sources containing lesser amounts is supposed to be a cancer killer that has several other benefits.

Yes. Watermelon along with cooked tomatoes and tomato juice were among the dietary recommendations I received after concluding proton therapy 6 weeks ago.

I simmer tomatoes in olive oil, which I read enhances the benefit, and then put one in my veggie shake each day. Love watermelon and will eat more of it. Thanks for sharing.

Never knew this . Love watermelon . I will eat more of it . In Italy I ate Mediterranean diet for 4 months, last winter while on contract. Compared to Canadian diet , much better . I felt so much better and lost 7 KG's as well ! Go figure ! Wine was in fact cheaper than water in some cities . .. and everything seems to be grown within 20-50 km's . Pasta wheat , Wine , olives etc . No GMO for sure . Slow service but very genuine and they even sit down at your table while eating ! So .. Lycopene has something going for it I think !

Have you tried broccoli sprouts? there's something in them that's super good too, my husband makes this "cancer killer" sort of salad and eats it twice a day.
Cilantro, broccoli sprouts, bell pepper, avocado and probably some other things, no lettuce so I guess it's not a salad..... then maybe at night he'll fry up some wild salmon and he eats these twice a day and nothing else and he LOVES it, lost weight at first because he cut out sugar and carbs but for about a month he's kept the same weight.

Interesting. Webmd has good things to say about it. I eat broccoli almost daily but did not know about the sprouts.
