Washing dishes
Curious what are people doing about washing dishes that need to be hand washed? Also, I read somewhere about Lifestraw products and their filters that go down to .02 looks like a decent filtering system for our water supply for drinking.
What other filtering systems or procedures do you do for drinking water, cooking water, washing dishes? What do you store boiled water in? Thanks all .... happy July 4th

@kate2025 Happy 4th. I’m glad you asked these questions. I was wondering the same thing. Looking forward to some guidance. Bless
If your water heater is set amount above 130F and you put HOT water and dish soap in the sink with your dishes, then let it cool until touchable, there should be no NTM present and no steam. Then use appropriate tools, including brushes to clean inner and outer surfaces of everything- this loosens any bacteria particles or biofilm clinging to surfaces. Rinse with hot water and air dry. Wipe out the sink. Using hot soapy water or a cleaner wipe all countertops and "touch surfaces" -faucets, knobs, handles and switches.
Even better is to use the dishwasher when possible.
Finally, sanitize your brushes, scrubber, etc. I do mine in the dishwasher. I use thin cellulose "Swedish dishcloths," cotton dishtowels and separate hand towels, changed everydayor two defending on use, washed and dried separately. Sponges are difficult to keep free of bacteria even when microwaved due to the millions of tiny pores.
This is basic food safety training and works for NTM with the hotter water.
Thank you! We have a tankless water heater. Checking to see how high temp I can set it too. Going to start using dishwasher on sanitize more often for things I generally hand wash (like my
Pots and pans).
I use a vinegar water solution for cleaning countertops etc as much as possible. Think I will
Change to vinegar and distilled water 🤦♀️. So much learning.
I did order some life straw products on Amazon (some where less than on their website. I got the large capacity dispenser for frig, a water pitcher, for easier access for daily stuff like cleaning equipment, making hot teas and coffee, the studio dispenser (think we will try and take with on our road trip vacation since staying in hotels) seems more portable and 2 stainless steel water bottles. Since is filters down to .2 microns I felt was better than just nothing! Can fill water bottles with spring water bottles purchased on the road or from the studio dispenser I figured.
I don't take showers rather have always enjoyed hot bathtubs with Epsom salts or mineral salts.
I use bath fan and keep bathroom door open as well - now 😳
We have Alexa bath fans so can listen to relaxing music at the same time. Love it but they do go off line often 🤦♀️
