Walking Alone - A poem that inspires me living with epilepsy

In my heart I walk alone,
Because of my fear of what is unknown,
I pray to God that I will be okay,
And seizure free for another day.

But if I'm not I just want you to know,
that a seizure can happen where I go,
So I set my goals high and I have lots of fun
As I prove to the world that I have seizures

Have Not Won!

I found this poem in a newsletter from the Epilepsy Foundation years ago. I cut it out and put it on my refrigerator. The author was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 3 1/2. He chose to put a picture of an eagle next to the poem because he says it is the only bird known to man that can keep flying forward no matter how big or bad a storm gets. He believes that people with epilepsy face their own private storm every day, some very bad, some not so bad. But just like the eagle no matter how big or bad a storm might get, people with epilepsy will keep moving forward and will not be forced to land when or where they don't want to.
