Walker to Rollator
Have any of you transitioned from using a walker to using a rollator?
My physical therapist had me do a few steps with a rollator today, and it was a little tricky. Is it normal to feel like it's going to get away from you at first? I was told to be ready to apply the brakes,
Anyone using a 2-wheel rollator instead of the usual 4-wheel one?

Hi @grrranny - here are a couple discussions on Mayo Clinic Connect you might check out where members talk about experiences with rollators:

2 ReactionsMy husband transitioned. The two wheeler was a disaster. It went back. This is our model and our little cat who loves to go on rides with him.

I use a rollator, the standard walker with 2 front wheels and a quad cane. I use the larger-wheeled rollator for uneven surfaces like my backyard and where I might want to sit and pull a weed or two. But in the house, it’s the walker or the cane. They don’t move much unless you move them, but the rollator feels different because you must remember to hand brake it. And for people with a weakness in either hand or dementia that could be tough. That said, I once had my walker roll down the sloping driveway without me. ( I grabbed my cane and pursued my escaped walker).😊
Best wishes as you go forward
