Waiting time for appointment?
Hello all, hope you all are doing ok. I have more of a question. My Neurologist thinks I may have Motor Neuron Disease and has referred me to Mayo Clinic in Florida TWO MONTHS AGO! My approval from insurance has also been sent in. Is it typical to have to wait this long?
My patient portal still says nothing. I have called multiple times and have been told my paperwork is back there for them to review? They haven’t even reviewed it after two months? Anyone else have this issue?

In your shoes and after waiting 2 months, I would look for another top institute of care. Like John Hopkins or a highly reputable teaching hospital. Those will still take time to get in, but at least you know you've got an upcoming appointment. I'm so fortunate that we have 2 teaching hospitals within 50 miles, one is in the county where I live. Though I didn't go for motor neuron, I was diagnosed with a demyelinating nerve disorder. These institutes are likely the ones running new studies, new research, drug trials or even access to treatments that aren't unavailable elsewhere. I hope you're open for alternatives and very best wishes.
