Vitreous Degeneration Flashes and Floater's / Treatment
Back in March of this year I started experience bright white flashes of light while I was on my elliptical. I was in my basement, and the room was dark. (I like to work out while watching my shows) It was mainly on my right side, and I kept looking to see what that light was. then I noticed having "floaters" I called my Eye Dr. to have it checked out. He told me that vitreous gel of my eye has started to degenerate, and it happens in aging. I started with Tobramycin-Dexameth Ophth Susp. for a couple weeks and Cyclosporine 0.05% eye Emuls viles for 90 days. When I went back to the Dr. He said it helped. Then 3 mths later I stared having it again and now in both eyes. I also have dry eyes, and they feel gummy. It also seems cloudy and want to blink a lot. I have now on my 2nd round of the Viles and they have suggested a Zocular Zest Treatment. This treatment is done in the Dr's office.
My question - has anyone else tried this treatment?
Alos, I have been using Ocusoft foam for years for dry eyes daily
Thanks in advance for any insights!
Linda

I hope that you are seeing an eye specialist with your problem, I say this only because I had the same problem years ago and I was seeing an optometrist for it, she also said I had vitreous issues due to age and it would settle down eventually. Unfortunately it didn’t stop and I was told by the same person that I’m fine and not to worry about it, I just wanted another opinion and I went to my doctor who sensed that it was retina related and referred me immediately to a ophthalmologist who couldn’t find anything but he wasn’t confident that I was fine so he got me in with a retina specialist the next morning and he said that I was so close to losing my vision, it turned out to be retinal detachment and I had laser surgery right away, the same thing happened with the other eye two years later only this time I bypassed the optometrist. I hope that your problem is minor and easily resolved, I just wanted to let you know so you have more information and if needed you have some insight with this situation.
linda82, Could you let me know if these drugs were intended to treat your floaters or PVD or both? I didn't realize that there was a treatment for either!
@frouke
The Dr. I saw was in a large practice that did my regular eye prescription 2 yrs ago. It was the best lenses I have ever had. He is a O.D. and specialties are Dry Eye Disease /Routine Eye Exams.
When I went in, he did dilate my eyes and said that my retina was ok and explained the Virtuous was thinning. The first drops did seem to help.
I will send my chart message to my primary Dr. and ask her if she recommends a Retina Specialist just to check. (I did let her know when I was on my yearly physical and the drops I was on)
Thanks

The floaters came and went, and these drops seems to have worked on both eyes. My main issue is the dryness, and I feel like I have to blink a lot.
I don't have flashes of light but I do have a large floater (which does not float but stay right across my central vision.) My vision seems to blur on and off. I was treated for NTG this year - when I mentioned the blurring to the surgeon at follow up, she felt it was dry eye and gave me systane drops (they did not seem to help.) I feel that I cannot see well at all (intermittently) so I asked for a second opinion. The second opthomologist has found thinning of the retina in one eye and referred me to specialist. However that appt. isn't for another 2.5 months.
It seems that even being sent to a specialist is not always enough, I’m happy for you that you had the opportunity to get another opinion because your eye condition is very serious one, anything involving the retina is not to be taken lightly, best wishes for a good recovery.
Also try a neuro eye doctor for another opinion. Where do you live?

I did send a MyChart message this morning to my primary Dr. to have her recommend one.
