Vitamin D3 toxicity anyone?

Posted by jkob @jkob, Apr 9 6:01pm

My most recent blood work shows that I have Vitamin D toxicity.
Only recommendation from my Dr was to stop all vitamins that contain D. Is stopping ingestion.enough to flush out excess eventually?
Is there more that I should or could do to lower the level. By the way it’s 101.
(I am 81, also just had my first Reclast infusion)

jkob, hydration is one way to lower D levels. You might avoid foods like egg yolks and foods fortified with D. Some even say avoid sunlight. But just stopping the supplements and staying hydrated should lower your levels in a few weeks time.
The way high D levels harms you is through elevated serum Calcium. Were your calcium levels high.

Did not get a reading on serum calcium will check into it.
I drink lots of liquids mainly water every day. Thank you for your response.

Agree with gently. Also look at any OTC ( over the counter) products you may take.

I take Vitamin D because my seizure medications are both enzyme inducing drugs which increase their own metabolism lowering my level. But I don't just take it arbitrary. I take only what my physician orders.
How much were you taking?

@jakeduck1. Low vitamin D levels several years ago. Dr suggested I take it to bring levels up. Probably should have had it checked sooner.
