Vitamin B 12 deficiency

Posted by judithaharding @judithaharding, Oct 13, 2023

I had a very successful gastric by pass twenty years ago at Mayo, lost over one hundred pounds and have kept it off all of these years. At one point several years ago, I decided I no longer neede B 12 infusions and/or sublingual drops and am now suffering the consequences … neoropathy, memory loss, weakness. Hopefully it will be remedied but I am advising everyone to consult their surgeon and follow directions.,

I had RNY in 2016. Since then had ileocecal valve removed w a portion of large and small bowel (part that absorbs vitomans)
I take B12 injections weekly, vit d 50,000 weekly. Iron infusions annually
And high doses of calcium Seems like everything comes aT a price
Good luck

Thanks. I’ll be seeing the doc and will probably be put on a program similar to yours. I’m hoping some of my brain fog and neuropathy may be improved. I’ll be 82 next month and I’m known as a fashionista; thanks to the nice figure I have, I wear colorful and fun clothes, all thrift store scores!

Did you have any other symptoms as a result if B12 deficiency? Like tingling hands and feet, hair loss, etc.
