Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mon, Mar 16 6:25pm

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

@zeiracorp

I wanted to put these flowers up today. This is a bush we thought was dead. I haven't been paying much attention to outside, and today we looked at it ahd there it is in full beauty.

It sure is, isn't it? We thought it was dead, and it just came to life.

She's so pretty. Reminds me of my spouse's calico (she died at the age of 17 I think it was).
Her name was just Calico.

Correction: This is Toto, Calico's daughter. She died at 5 from feline leukemia. I got the pictures confused. They look so alike.

Bummer, I had a visual escape without the ability to take a picture. Rough mowing part of the woods area of my lot that I had cleared out last fall and wanted to keep it fairly open. The weeds were about 6 to 7 inches tall and I'm slowly going because the ground is rough. I had been mowing for about 20 minutes or so and was surprised when a newly born fawn jumped up out of the weeds about 4 feet away from me. I stopped the mower and looked around. Didn't see hide nor hair of momma deer. The little guy could hardly walk but did get to the road and into my neighbors woods across the street.

Oh, @johnbishop, What a lovely surprise to see a newly born fawn nearby!!! Hope the little fella made it back to rejoin his mamma. Can only imagine the delight seeing the newborn brought. Thank you for the lift today!

I'll accept the challenge.
Alibis – My photo files are in real disarray (like my mind – lots of musty stacks in there with things lost in it).
This is Houdini. What I could find and produce. We have to have more. (???)
First is from a screen grab from portion of a video so it's a really flaky image, but it's him.

@zeiracorp Your Houdini and my Rascal could have been kin. Very similar coloring and eyes. Rascal was quite the athlete; could spring from floor to top of counter and then perch on top of tall frig. We spent 18 wonderful years together.

Houdini is also an athlete. Likes to get up on things. He likes to chew on my spouse (his human) affectionately, but she is always saying "Ow! Quit it!" A very energetic cat.

@zeiracorp How super bush! Is that a rodandrin SP. We use to live in the Seattle area and we had a bunch of them. I don't remember them having so many blooms.

Anybody up for a challenge? How about you @zeiracorp, @mkjames, @iamkaren, @user_ch32491d1, @bern1958, @liz223, and @grannybrenda? Anyone else? The challenge — before and after or young and older pictures.

I'll go first, here's a picture of my current oldest cat Oreo when she was a kitten and sitting in the catbird seat and a few years later when she was sitting outside my window soaking up some sun and watching me work.

@johnbishop What a beautiful cat! I love his colors. My husband told me he would devorce me if I got a cat, but I can have a dog, another nicer one than the last one we had. We will only get Papillons. I don't know how to send picture, but I'm not feeling too hot. My surgery is 9 days away. and with the pain I haven't been able to think straight and I'm taking the same meds. except Tymlos, which is to increase my bones. I have been having side effect from that, I think that's why I'm so fatigued and I have gained over 11 pound. I weigh more now then when I was fully pregnant. That's another side effect. My endocrinologist wants to start me on another one after I get healed from my surgery.

It's a Rhododendron. It was dry and bare. We though it was dead. Then it came to life. Only survived because I was too lazy to pull it out, lol. See, I told my wife my laziness would someday pay off. 🙂
