Have you had a virtual colonoscopy? Beneficial?
IBS-C diagnosis which worsened after abdominal surgery (Total Hysterectomy) 20 years ago. Past two years on Lubiprostone (Azmitia) until Mid-January this year my new RX plan would cost me $400 for 90-day supply. I used Magnesium, Aloe Vera and stool softeners for 4 weeks until I was able to negotiate price at half cost. I noticed a change in my stool diameter, narrowing so scheduled visit with GI. Due to past history of incomplete scoping caused by stool impaction, I've been scheduled for CT colonography. Colon cleansing before but no scoping.
Anyone have this done and find results beneficial?

Never heard of this. But I do take Motegrity for my bowel and they just came out with a generic for this one. I'm not sure how much it would be but it's worth looking into. I've been on a lot of pills to help motility and Motegrity has always been the most effective for me.

1 ReactionI'm also on Motegrity but I'm able to get it through the company's patient assistance program. It sounds like you have strictures from surgical adhesions, which is the same problem I have. I haven't had that virtual colonoscopy. I'm having standard colonoscopy on Thursday. I'm very careful with taking colace three times a day, an herbal prokinetic called iberogast and now Motegrity for the past year and a half. I also take an herbal laxative when I feel BMs slowing down. I basically keep my stool liquid every day so that it's easier to pass.

1 ReactionI have always had a terrible problem with constipation and I have used many different things to try to figure out what works. What works for me now, is two stool softeners 250 mm each and three to four caps of 400 mg of slippery elm bark. I buy the nature's Way brand. The dosage actually says you can take four capsules three times daily with warm water between meals. But I don't seem to need that much. It's also good if you have sore throat or esophagus issues. They make a powder form that you can make a tea with. I tried that and I didn't like it it tasted like dirt. Anyway I hope this might help somebody with constipation.

3 ReactionsYes, with a radiologist who did a GI fellowship, I have found these very useful when colonoscopy is contraindicated.
Thanks for your reply. The colonography was done. I will discuss findings with my GI doctor this week.

I’m having this done in 2 days due to inability to complete a colonoscopy. My question is if polyps are found how will they be removed?

1 Reaction@the virtual will be a CT done in an imaging facility. Your doctor will receive report. If determined that polyps need to be removed, your doc will schedule you for a "real" colonoscopy. Please confirm this with your doctor.
