very sharp pain

Posted by missyg @missyg, Apr 12 11:29pm

I have very bad issues with spinal stenosis, among other issues. Four days ago all of a sudden a really sharp pain in my upper thorax area where my bra strap sits it is unbearable. Has anyone had this?

@missyg Welcome to Connect. I am a cervical spine surgery patient and also have thoracic outlet syndrome. Could you share what diagnosis you've had with stenosis and the history of your spine condition? I'm presuming you are referencing pain on the trapesius or "trap" muscles that connect your neck to your shoulder. Is this correct? Is there a pattern to your pain and what you are doing when you feel this pain?

Yes. It will take your breath. I was told it is the arthritis in my spine. Sometimes, I think certain activity triggers it.

If I do not use Voltaren gel or Aspercreme spray with lidocaine and heat packs ASAP, its unbearable. I get spasms in my back and take prescribed Flexeril which helps greatly.

I recently went to a funeral and the pews were wooden. I leaned back on the pews and it aggravated my spine. I had to pamper it for a couple of days until it calmed down.

I also soak in Epsom salt in the tub as hot as I can stand it. The pain radiates up to my neck and causes a migraine if left untreated often times.

Extreme weather change definitely is a trigger for me.

Praying for you. This is miserable.

Hi, Sorry you are suffering with this pain. I don't have Cervical Stenosis, but I have lumbar stenosis. I had decompression surgery on March 1 and now I have unbearable cramps in my calves. They gave me cyclobenziprine but it isn't helping.
Does anyone know of another medication for extreme cramping ?
