uti
I am 72 and recently I experienced an itchy sensation in my vaginal to anus region which usually happens by the end of the day and goes away by washing with water. I had a urine culture test done and it appeared to be clear. Does this seem to be UTI?

Have you been screened for a yeast infection?
Are you drinking enough water. Your urine might be to strong.
Hello, @anjali1953. Persistent itching can be so frustrating. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
There are a number of different issues that can cause itching. It could be some kind of contact dermatitis, or like @gravity3 said, a yeast infection. You can read more about possible causes here: https://www.healthline.com/health/vaginal-health/reasons-vaginal-itch-happens-when-you-dont-have-a-yeast-infection
You mentioned that you had a urine culture. Have you spoken to your doctor about the continued itching?
This comment doesn’t pertain to the itching complaint but as soon as I read UTI and your age I thought of a recent podcast I listened to.

I hope you can get relief soon!
It sounds a bit like pruritis ani, a fancy term for the itching you describe. There are many causes, just a few include fungal infection, harsh soaps, excessive wiping, hemorrhoids, diarrhea, dyes and perfumes in toilet paper, certain foods such as coffee, spicy foods, tomatoes, chocolates citrus fruits or vitamin C tablets, certain beers and wine , . I would suggest ongoing evaluation with your doctor. If your pcp is no help, a gynecologist may be more versed. Switch to gentle baby wipes and consider OTC hydrocortisone cream . If a culprit isn’t easily identified, consider a food diary. Just a few ideas.
