Use of Botox to combat pelvic floor pain.

Posted by kenc @kenc, Sep 23, 2023

Has anyone had experience using BOTOX to treat pelvic floor and rectal area pain? The pain is resulting from the Colorectal surgery I had a few years back, and the Pelvic Floor doctor recommends that, along w/ PT, I should receive BOTOX injections to loosen the muscle strain in my pelvic floor, which result in pain relief.

No. I’ve had issues with constipation my entire life. Four years ago it went into overdrive! Two years into this period is when mine started. They feel this is what caused mine. I also live in a small town. I have to travel for everything. An hour every week for pelvic floor therapy. Nearly four hours to Cleveland Clinic. Of course, all the sitting only makes it works!

Thank you so much, I sure hope this helps you. Yes, living in a small town definitely has benefits, this is not one of them!

I hope you are sitting on a donut. And please, ask your therapist about anti-seizure medicine. That's what save me in the end. My pelvic doctor told me a year after I was healed that she had heard about it being effective.

I’ve been on topirimate for years for migraines. I do for a script for gabapentin I’ve been fearful of taking bc of side effects but I think I may try.

I gradually stopped taking Gabapentin, because it did appear to have any effect.

Yes I am, but the donut has not been always helpful. If the BOTOX treatment fails, I will definitely discuss the use anti-seizure medications.
