Hello @missas20 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. It sounds like you may be wondering what treatments are available for anterior bulbar strictures. Is that right?
Yes
Hi I am about to get operated in a few weeks for a urethral stricture just a little scared as the Dr. advised a catheter will be in place for 14 days
Be happy only 14 days. I had a suprapubic catheter for 13 months while I heaked after urethroplasty. Good luck.
I have been operated upon twice for urethral strictures about 20 years apart. In both cases I ended up with a Foley for 10 days to two weeks. I believe this was to allow close to full healing while the catheter is in place. I think that removal of the catheter earlier risks disturbance of the urethral tissue that was operated on, resulting in more strictures. While it is not comfortable and certainly inconvenient to function with a catheter for a couple of weeks, I have tried to get in a routine for good catheter hygiene and perform as many of my normal daily activities as possible, including going to work (at an office job). Good luck.
I had a foley catheter for 13 months. I liked the fact I could sleep through the night. I golfed weekly and rode my motorcycle. It didn't restrict me in that way.
