Upper back pain

Posted by filipina @filipina, 3 days ago

My heart is fine. Problem is when I breath in, there’s pain in my upper back and sometimes front. I feel like my upper front is gonna get crushed. As well, feeling fatigued esp after few minutes of gardening.
I also have RLS and have a problem sleeping. I take tramadol(low dose) before bed and zopiclone for sleep as needed. No official diagnosis yet.
Any suggestions?

General fatigue sounds like the lungs, and bending in the garden places pressure on the lungs. but if the fatigue is in you upper back and or shoulders, you might have a fracture. I'd want imaging of both. Best wishes for simple muscle strain,
Zopiclone can cause shortness of breath and muscle tightening in the chest.

The person ahead of me has a lot of good information.
I questioned if you could be having an allergy reaction to something in your garden A flower vine, a bush
Talk to your doctor and see what he thinks
I do think you should have an x-ray and go to an allergy doctor
I wish you the best

@minnesota10
Thank you. Have ruled out allergy as I had been tested.
I do yoga and breathing exercises which helps a bit.
I do physio and laser therapy as well every two weeks or third week. Had an Xray. I never had accident or injury…..

@gently thank you.
Never had that with Z as I only used it once a week most when I am desperate.
I rarely get a good sleep.
I am menopausal too.
Sorry, I feel like it’s too much info but I am feeling desperate.

filipina,
I'm sorry, too that pain is making you feel desperation.
I'm hoping you don't have a fracture, but you do need to know. There are medications that reduce the pain, protect the vertebra from further collapse and make your bones strong.
minnesota10 has a good take. It may not be pollen but something in the soil that you are digging up. That the breathing exercises help puts those lungs under suspicion.-
An X-ray won't reveal a fracture for a couple of weeks. ( I learned from windyshores on this site.) The vertebra usually compress in a forward wedge which would cause forward pressure, reducing space for everything including the lungs. A thoracic MRI is the best imaging for fractures and would reveal many things about the lungs (that you don't need to think about).
Post menopause is a good time to have a dxa to see how your bone are handling the loss of estrogen.
Your primary care should be able to order an MRI if you say you think you may have had a vertebral fracture.
You really can't give us too much information. so tell us more.

Hey There. Look up Costochondritis. This is inflammation in the breastbone but can also be felt in the back. It can be brought on by something as simple as swimming or other repetitive motions that affect the arms, upper body and back. I wonder if your gardening has aggravated this.

Is your breastbone sore when you press on it? Do you have deep sharp pains that radiate?

Most of the time it is treated with NSAIDS and rest. I had a dear friend that thought she was having heart problems and it was Costochondritis. I have it on occasion as did my mom. It is very painful when you get in a flare.

Praying for you relief. Blessings....
