Lori. Hey there ..what will happen if my bone biopsy is not good..I am scared it won't show any improvement

Hi @bettersleep68…But what if everything is great??!!!
You’ve had 2 rounds of chemo and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there’s a significant drop in the blast cells. Chemo can work! I’m going to be really optimist for you that there will be some positive changes in your biopsy. Worrying about ‘what if’ is unproductive and causes a heckuva lot of stress.

This is one of my favorite passages. I don’t know who wrote it but I have shared it before in the forum:
Fear does not stop death. It stops life
And worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles.
It takes away today’s peace.

Let me know when you get your biopsy! In the meantime, distraction can be a super healthy tool to deal with stress. What are some of your favorite activities? Do you enjoy any type of art or creative projects?

Ok, if you have the JAK2 mutation and taking HU, the links I provided above should be very helpful and informative for you. Feel free to jump into any conversation to ask questions. How long ago were you diagnosed?

12 years ago & did just fine until I started HU a month ago , I am 82

I noticed in another reply that you had blood work yesterday. Hopefully your tests showed some improvement in blood numbers.
Have you told your doctor about the side effects you’re experiencing? There are members who have mentioned that their doctors have decreased dosages once the blood numbers have settled into a comfortable ‘norm’. Sometimes that’s all it takes to find the sweet spot for the medication to balance side effects vs optimal dosage.

Considering that you were diagnosed over 12 years ago with ET but never had any issues, what changes prompted your doctor to have you start treatment? Were your platelet levels rising?
