Up and down day to day.

Posted by amu45sin @amu45sin, 2 days ago

Am up one day, or a few days, and then down a day or so. I have highs and lows. Some days very peaceful, energetic and optimistic, and feel good about life. Other days just the opposite.
Have tried mertazapin, duloxitin, and sertriline. They only work so much and have side effects.
Have been on this roller coaster for decades. Any suggestions, Thanks.

I always feel like I’m in a panic or worried. I try to not think about cancer but it’s always on my mind. It’s stopping me from enjoying my life, I always feel worried. How do I stop this? I want my life back!

I tried everything and combinations of things for decades. Made me worse. Took counseling and one of the oldest medications to help. Also I had to get a toxic family member to leave me alone. If I can get better after all these years I think others can. Getting enough good sleep is very important for me as is getting plenty of fresh vegetables. I will never be this joyous person. I have a sadness about me, but I am being the best me.

@mrszig: I’m sorry to learn of your cancer - there are so many types, treatments and prognoses. Thank goodness we still have some research in progress (even though much of the previous funds have been cut)! This gives all of us HOPE!
My 3 1/2 yr cancer journey has taught me much about myself and how to live the days I have left. I went through the panic you describe until I decided to educate myself on my disease. This included learning from other patients with similar dx and their experiences. I had never been a “joiner”, but I joined three different virtual NET cancer peer groups. They offered videos to watch, lectures from renowned experts, and personal help. I learned!
Everyone reacts to our situation differently and I offer the above only to help you get to the stage of “acceptance”. No one will tell you why you have cancer, but experts are available to guide us to the best treatments and hope we will have more good days than bad.

I can totally relate with living life in fear of cancer, I am currently a five year survivor and I recently had a ct scan and it showed a nodule that is showing signs of cancer, I can’t say that this news is any easier to take than the first time I heard this.

Hi Frouke,
I'm so sorry that your cancer is showing up again! That must be hard for you. However, just pray and let God handle it. He made you and he can fix you. My husband had lung cancer. We prayed a lot and it really helped. In fact, he lived for 14 years after he was diagnosed with lung cancer. I think our praying had a lot to do with that. My husband died in July, 2024. I miss him terribly but I know he's up in Heaven and we'll be together again eventually.

I'll say a prayer for you also. I'm sure everything will work out fine for you!

Thank you very much for your support, I appreciate it more than I can say, I don’t know what they’re going to do, I will be getting a phone call next week from the doctor and hopefully I will get some answers, I will and I do pray all the time and I’m grateful for your prayers too, sincerely Frouke.

Have you tried Wellbutrin/bupropion? Are you working with a psychiatrist to help manage your medications? Do you have a cognitive behavioral therapist that you work with to help you cope?

Have you had other bloodwork done to make sure your general health and results are good?

Taken lithium and lamictal for a long time. My Dr. didn’t want to change my meds, I think that after 25 yrs there’s got to be something better for my treatment. The meds I mentioned haven’t been helping e for a couple of years.
Bloodwork , my lithium levels are always low and have been for a few years.
Should I just see a new Dr.?
