Uninformed Doctors declining to prescribe meds to kidney donor

I am a 62-year-old, very healthy, kidney donor, however I am overweight by 30 lbs. I would like to be prescribed semaglutide, but uninformed General Practitioners will not prescribe it. Everything I have read states that semaglutide is not dangerous to healthy kidneys. I would like to know if other donors have been declined meds due to uninformed doctors.

Perhaps your general practitioner is concerned because they don't want to jeopardize the health of that remaining kidney, with possible side effects? That's a thought! Can you reach out to the transplant team you had at the time of your donation, and ask their expert opinion?
